Trying new things
When we had our Christmas party with work, we all went to a pottery class. At first it was just a little fun, until we had to have our hands in clay and by the table trying to create these shapes.
Just after all the fun we had in the whole party that I thought to myself of how wonderful that experience was, where you don’t have to think about anything else, just focus your mind on to clay. I found it so therapeutic, and like a mindfulness class.
More to that, pottery class was a first one for me to try, and having an open mind was crucial for the process to be an enjoyable experience. But it made me reflect of how often we try new things and how often do we push ourselves out of comfort zone, to be silly, to be not perfect, to be vulnerable to show our creativity. It was fun as we were group and we all know each other, so to be ourselves it was easy, but what about if you are in a group of people that you do not know, connections are made exactly like that when you take some courage and show what are you about, vulnerability connects people to appreciate each other. We talk a lot nowadays about being vulnerable, in her book, Daring Greatly, Brené Brown describes vulnerability as “uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure”. It’s that unstable feeling we get when we step out of our comfort zone or do something that forces us to loosen control. If you haven’t come across Brené Brown, wonderful women to investigate and learn more about vulnerability.
In the days now that social media is screaming with content about mental health and ways to improve it, vulnerability is Nr 1 key to attract audience to get attracted to you. And as a new business owner I am learning that my every day life becomes this dance between me, fear, and vulnerability. Sometimes is samba and it’s so hot and fun, but sometimes its more like heart breaking contemporary piece where the demon of your soul is fighting with new version of you trying to move forward and keep going after what you want. Reflection of today, we all are doing so many things that we ‘have’ to do or ‘should’ do rather than things that we love and enjoy. The real enjoyment of what we really suppose to do, what we yearn to do.
-When was the last time you have tried something new?
-What did you love doing in your childhood?
-When was the last time you really enjoyed yourself?
Leaning into learning zone, fear, vulnerability, creates life that you want, unforgettable memories, grows the joy within, grows the love and trust to yourself.
With Love,
